Spring Grass: Resilience takes the reader to my world as a university student in 1970s Shanghai during the Cultural Revolution. At that time, education was to serve the goals of the class struggle, and I often found myself struggling to obtain a meaningful education while coping with political pressures as well as demanding time spent in classrooms set up in factories, villages, and on army bases. Changes in my personal life and even more dramatic changes to Chinaa??s political landscape would further impact my life. Through it all, I, Qiyin, tried to remain true to the resilience and hope reflected in the meaning of my name, Spring Grass.
